Ring O’ Bells’  is within a 10 minute, level walk of local Pubs, Shops, Post Office, Garage and the Kennet and Avon Canal which offers pleasant walks, cycling, fishing and, of course, trips on the Kennet & Avon Trust boat, Barbara McLellan, which has disabled access, and sails from Bradford on Avon Wharf.  

Should you wish to hire a narrowboat and sail the canal yourself, there are several hire fleet operators within easy reach.  We can supply further information on request.

There is a network of country walks and cycle ways.  Bicycles may be hired in at the Lock Inn Cottage, Bradford on Avon, which, incidentally, is located on the towpath and has canal-side Tea Rooms.  If you bring your own bicycle, we can offer safe overnight storage in our garage.

The surrounding area has a total of 8 White Horses carved into the chalk hills.  Crop circles appear with amazing regularity throughout the area and UFO sightings are regularly reported, especially around Warminster which is about 12 miles.  

There are stone circles, museum and ancient burial grounds at Avebury and Silbury Hill, which is the largest man made mound, used for lighting beacons are both about 20 miles.

We are situated centrally for access to the area.  The beautiful city of Bath is 10 miles away.  Devizes with it's canal wharf and the famous flight of 29 locks rising approximately 400 feet, Bristol, Salisbury, Wells, Glastonbury, Malmesbury, and many other famous towns and cities are within easy reach by car, rail or bus.

Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles, Longleat House and wildlife park (including the famous Longleat Lions, Bowood House, Abbey House, Stourhead 18th century gardens, the National Trust village of Lacock, Cheddar Caves, Wookey Hole Caves, the list of places of interest is long and comprehensive.

And then, when all is said and done, there is SHOPPING at the many centers  and designer outlets in the nearby towns and cities.

EATING OUT

Several pubs in the locality serve food and there is a range of restaurants in Trowbridge and around the area.

GETTING AROUND

There is a bus stop at the rear of the house, which provides a service to nearby towns and villages. 

The main local railway stations are located in Trowbridge, approximately 2 miles away and Bradford on Avon.  Bath, Westbury and Chippenham are also main-line Railway stations a little further away.

National Express coaches are routed through Trowbridge, Devizes, Bath  and Chippenham
